Venezia FC 1 - 0 SSC Napoli — Highlights & Result

A harrowing run of eight straight defeats across all competitions finally came to a dramatic halt for the hosts, who had started the Serie A matchday rooted to the very bottom of the table. Napoli arrived on matchday 7 sitting ninth in the standings, aiming to build on an away record that included one win and one draw from three league trips. Despite dominating possession with 71 percent and firing 29 shots, the visitors could not find a way through, even missing a 68th-minute penalty taken by Kevin De Bruyne. Instead, Akor Adams struck in the 49th minute, assisted by Simon Sohm, to settle the contest and earn the highest rating of 8.2 for his side, while teammate F. Stanković earned a 9 for a stellar display in goal.

The historical context between these clubs showed very little separating them in recent times, underscored by a scoreless draw in their most recent meeting in March 2025. That prior stalemate added tension to a fixture where the visitors piled on the pressure through 10 shots on target and an expected goals tally of 2.46, compared to just 0.67 for the hosts. B. Badiashile put in a strong shift for the away side, earning a 7.6 rating, but Napoli's four-match scoring streak across all competitions came to a sudden end against a resilient defensive wall.

Following this outcome, the league table is led by Inter on 16 points. The victors find themselves 13 points behind the leaders, while Napoli sit 6 points off the top. Venezia FC next play away at Genoa on October 25.
