Real Betis saw their ten-match scoring streak in all competitions halted as they crashed to a heavy defeat on matchday nine of the Primera Division. Both teams entered this fixture on impressive runs, with the hosts unbeaten in their last five outings and the visitors enjoying a ten-match winning streak across all competitions. This encounter proved to be a high-scoring affair mirroring previous meetings, such as the 5-3 scoreline recorded at this same venue in December 2025. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 10th minute for the visitors, assisted by Jules Koundé, before Diego Valentín Gómez equalised for Real Betis with help from Pablo Fornals. Further goals from Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante, Gabriel Jesus, Eric García, and Daniel Olmo Carvajal added to the visitors' tally, while Abde Ezzalzouli also scored for the hosts. Facundo Bernal received a red card in the 54th minute, compounding the difficulties for the home side.
The visitors continued their formidable domestic form, having won all four of their previous away matches in the competition this season while scoring 17 goals on the road. Despite strong efforts from Pablo Fornals and Abde Ezzalzouli, who earned ratings of 7.3 and 7.1 respectively, Real Betis struggled to contain the visitors' prolific attack. Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante anchored the midfield brilliantly for the winners, earning a standout rating of 8.2, alongside Pau Cubarsí Paredes who received an 8 rating after providing two assists. The visitors controlled 69 percent of the possession and registered 18 shots, 10 of which hit the target, compared to 6 total shots from Real Betis.
Looking ahead, Real Betis will next play at home to Feyenoord on 21 October.
