OGC Nice 2 - 1 RC Strasbourg Alsace — Highlights & Result

OGC Nice finished sixteenth in the table last season with thirty-two points, while RC Strasbourg Alsace placed eighth with fifty-three points, but early-season trajectories shifted on matchday six as Jonathan Clauss and Dário Essugo made their mark. The encounter swung when D. Essugo scored for Strasbourg in the forty-first minute, assisted by C. Harder, before an own goal by P. Demba leveled terms right before the break. In the eighty-first minute, J. Clauss struck the winner for Nice, assisted by S. Diop, earning an 8.7 rating that reflected his decisive impact on the pitch. Strasbourg shared a 1-1 draw in their previous meeting here, but this time they left empty-handed despite holding fifty-four percent possession, as Nice registered six shots on target compared to the visitors' three.

Nice had built a solid home record in the competition this season by remaining unbeaten at their stadium through three matches, though their overall attack had produced just three goals in five outings. Strasbourg arrived having scored in four matches in a row across all competitions, averaging two goals per game in the league, yet their away form featured two losses from three trips. Recent history between the clubs showed tight contests, including a 3-1 victory for Strasbourg in their most recent encounter. Youssouf Ndayishimiye also delivered a standout defensive display for the hosts with a 7.5 rating, while Jeyland Mitchell matched that 7.7 rating for Strasbourg alongside the goalscoring D. Essugo.

This result lifted Nice from fifteenth up to ninth in the table, leaving them six points behind leaders Monaco in the eighteen-team standings, while Strasbourg dropped from tenth to eleventh and sit seven points off the top. Nice will next play away at Olympique Lyon on October 18.
