SC Paderborn 07 0 - 2 VfB Stuttgart — Highlights & Result

Stuttgart finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, a soaring peak that made their early-season struggles at the wrong end of the table a surprise, while SC Paderborn spent recent months fighting on a different tier entirely. The visitors arrived on matchday 5 of this Bundesliga term sitting fifteenth after a difficult opening block that featured a heavy defeat away at Bayern, though they quickly shifted trajectories here. Paderborn, meanwhile, tried to build on a recent home win against Hoffenheim, yet the hosts failed to translate their heavy shot count into goals despite seeing plenty of the ball.

The breakthrough arrived in the twenty-fifth minute when J. Chabot turned the ball home following an assist from A. Stiller, giving the visitors an important edge. Paderborn pushed hard to respond through twenty-four total shots and an expected goals tally of 1.96, but Stuttgart held firm with the help of standout performances from Maximilian Mittelstädt, who earned a 9.3 rating, and A. Stiller, rated 8.6. C. Fuhrich then sealed the outcome in the eighty-third minute, converting another assist from A. Stiller to leave the hosts empty-handed despite their statistical pressure.

The result lifts Stuttgart from fifteenth up to tenth in the standings, putting them seven points behind league leaders Dortmund, whereas Paderborn drop three spots to fifteenth and sit nine points off the summit. Stuttgart now prepare for continental action as they travel to face Sl. Bratislava on 14 October.
