Stuttgart extended their scoring streak to nine matches in all competitions thanks to a swift flurry of goals that decided this UEFA Champions League matchday 1 fixture. Ermedin Demirović opened the scoring in the 20th minute from an Angelo Stiller assist, and after Zlatko Tripić equalised for Viking two minutes later with help from Henrik Bjørdal, Demirović struck twice more before the half-hour mark with two assists from Deniz Undav. With 62 percent possession and 17 shots compared to Viking's nine, Stuttgart made the most of their attacking opportunities as Demirović earned a standout 9.9 rating and Stiller claimed an 8.3 rating, while Tripić finished with an 8.3 rating and Bjørdal a 7 for the visitors.
