Recent meetings between these sides have produced varied outcomes, including a heavy defeat for Brest in 2025 and a draw earlier in 2026, though Nice had not won away at this stadium since November 2024. That historical edge vanished as the visitors turned the tables on matchday 8 of Ligue 1 on 23 October 2026. Ludovic Ajorque, who earned a 7.8 rating, opened the scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute. Nice responded after the break when Sepe Elye Wahi netted in the 61st minute following an assist from Mohamed Amoura, before Sofiane Diop supplied the winner in the 83rd minute with help from Wahi. Wahi finished as the game's standout performer with an 8.2 rating. Brest missed a late opportunity to equalize when Kenny Lala failed to convert from the penalty spot in the tenth minute of stoppage time.
Entering the contest, Brest had enjoyed a scoring streak stretching across three matches in all competitions and sat tenth in the table. Their previous home outings in the league this season included one win and one draw from three fixtures. Meanwhile, Nice arrived having scored in three consecutive matches across all competitions as well, but struggled with an away record that showed three defeats from three league trips. Despite Brest holding 51 percent possession and generating 13 shots against nine, Nice made their two shots on target count to reverse their poor away fortunes.
The outcome reshuffled the lower half of the standings significantly. Brest slipped one place to 11th in the table, while Nice jumped from 13th to 8th. The table is currently led by Olympique Lyon on 14 points, leaving Brest five points off the summit and Nice just three points behind the leaders.
Brest will next play away at Lorient on 31 October.
