Le Havre AC 1 - 2 Stade Brestois 29 — Highlights & Result

Recent encounters between these sides had heavily favoured the visitors, with Le Havre losing four of their previous five meetings against Brest, including a home defeat on 29 October 2025. That historical edge translated to the pitch on this Ligue 1 matchday 3 fixture on 5 September 2026, where Stade Brestois 29 claimed a 1-2 victory over Le Havre AC. Brest seized control early when K. Doumbia converted a 12th-minute penalty. The task grew even harder for the hosts just before half-time when Junior Mwanga received a red card in the 45+2nd minute. K. Doumbia struck again shortly after the restart in the 51st minute, assisted by M. Balde. Despite possessing the ball for 56 percent of the match and mounting 18 shots, Le Havre could only pull one back through a 79th-minute penalty by R. Fofana. Ahmed Touba earned a 7.6 rating for Le Havre, while K. Doumbia stood out with an 8.3 rating for the victors.

Both teams entered this contest carrying contrasting runs of form from the opening weeks of the season. Le Havre had finished 14th in the competition last year with 35 points, but their recent struggles continued after collecting just a single draw in their opening two outings. Their winless sequence stretched back further when factoring in a 2-0 away victory at Lorient among their previous results. Meanwhile, Brest finished 12th last season with 39 points and arrived on a three-match unbeaten run across recent fixtures, despite having previously endured a ten-match winless streak in all competitions.

The three points transformed the league standings for the visitors, lifting Brest from 12th up to 4th in the table. Conversely, the defeat pushed Le Havre downward from 15th to 16th place. Monaco currently leads the 18-team division on 9 points, leaving Brest four points off the summit while Le Havre sit eight points behind the leaders.

Next up in the schedule, Le Havre return home to face Angers SCO on 12 September, whereas Brest prepare to host PSG on 13 September.
