Previous clashes between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have been tightly contested, highlighted by a scoreless draw in their most recent meeting here in March 2024. That historical balance shifted on this UEFA Champions League matchday 3, as Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 43rd minute. Arda Güler doubled the advantage shortly after the break with help from Kylian Mbappé, before Kylian Mbappé added another in the 83rd minute following a pass from Yan Diomande. Tidiam Gomis briefly pulled one back for the visitors in the 85th minute, assisted by Christoph Baumgartner, but Yan Diomande restored the three-goal cushion just two minutes later from a Brahim Díaz assist. Kylian Mbappé earned an 8.4 rating and Bernardo Silva collected an 8.2 rating for their performances.
The hosts arrived on a run of three consecutive wins across all competitions, extending a scoring streak that now spans seven matches. They held 65% possession and registered 18 shots, 11 of which tested the goalkeeper. RB Leipzig entered this fixture having scored in three consecutive matches across all competitions, yet struggled to contain the pressure after M. Vandevoordt and T.
