FC Lorient 1 - 2 ES Troyes AC — Highlights & Result

Building on a previous term where they finished 9th with 45 points, FC Lorient found themselves slipping to 15th in the standings following this August 29 fixture, now sitting three points behind early leaders Lille in the 18-team division. ES Troyes AC made the more substantial early impression of the day, vaulting from 11th all the way up to 3rd place after picking up their first victory of the new term.

Lorient had experienced a mixed bag of results concluding their previous season, which featured a high-scoring draw away at PSG alongside a heavy home defeat against Le Havre, before opening the current term with a goalless stalemate at Nice. Troyes arrived at this matchday following a quiet opening draw at home against Paris FC. Despite dominating the ball with 67 percent possession and registering 15 shots to their opponents' 11, Lorient could not overturn the deficit established during the opening period.

Renaud Ripart opened the scoring for the visitors from the penalty spot in the 29th minute, before Lucas Maronnier added a second in the 38th minute with an assist provided by Antoine Mille. Jean Victor Makengo pulled a goal back for the hosts in the 51st minute, earning a standout rating of 7.6 alongside teammate Arthur Avom Ebong. Troyes goalkeeper Patrick Beach delivered a brilliant defensive display to claim the highest rating of the match at 8.5, while Maronnier earned a 7.5 rating to help withstand Lorient's six shots on target.

Looking ahead to the upcoming schedule, Lorient will travel to face RC Lens on September 5. Troyes return to their home stadium the following day on September 6 to play against Strasbourg.
