Recent encounters at this venue have proved extraordinarily fruitful for the visitors, echoing their previous victory here on 17 January 2026. That historical edge translated onto the pitch as Olympique de Marseille overwhelmed Angers SCO 5-2 on matchday 7 of Ligue 1 on 18 October 2026.
Both outfits arrived on the back of mixed domestic sequences, with Angers SCO experiencing inconsistent home form and Marseille looking to build on a recent away win at Troyes. The visitors controlled 58% of possession and peppered the home goal with 21 shots, leaving Angers SCO struggling to contain the pressure despite managing eleven attempts of their own.
Lillian Rao-Lisoa opened the scoring for Angers SCO in the 14th minute before Marseille turned the tide through Himad Abdelli, assisted by Timothy Weah, and a subsequent strike from Nouhoum Kamissoko. Although Amine Gouiri missed a penalty in the 59th minute, he immediately atoned by scoring moments later, complemented by later goals from Amine Harit and Igor Paixão, either side of an Amine El Ouazzani penalty. Timothy Weah earned a standout 8.3 rating and Himad Abdelli collected an 8.2 rating for their instrumental roles in the victory.
The outcome lifts Marseille from 14th to 8th in the table, now sitting 5 points behind leaders PSG in the 18-team division, while Angers SCO drop to 14th place. Angers SCO will next play at home to Lorient on 25 October.
