Manchester United arrived on October 21, 2026, for this UEFA Champions League matchday 3 fixture stuck in a difficult run, having gone five matches in a row without a victory across all competitions. That winless sequence extended further as Como 1907 claimed a resounding 4-1 triumph. Nico Paz set the tone after just two minutes with an opener assisted by Lucas Da Cunha. Anastasios Douvikas added a second soon after the restart with help from Nico Paz, before Nico Paz struck again in the 57th minute. Jacobo Ramón netted a fourth in the 76th minute following a Kaiki Bruno assist, rendering a late stoppage-time reply from Joshua Zirkzee, set up by Amad Diallo, merely a consolation.
Both teams had started the night level on three points from two played with identical goal differences of plus two, though contrasting recent outings defined their trajectories. Como 1907 had bounced back from a European defeat at Feyenoord by winning 3-1 away at Fiorentina in Serie A. Manchester United, meanwhile, experienced a frustrating stretch of draws and losses, including a UEFA Champions League defeat away at Atleti and a Premier League stalemate away at Leeds United. Amad Diallo earned a standout rating of 7.5 for his efforts, while Nico Paz led the hosts with a remarkable 9.2 rating and Jacobo Ramón recorded 7.9.
The lopsided scoreline transformed the 36-team standings drastically on matchday 3. Como 1907 rocketed up from 17th to 6th place, while Manchester United dropped from 18th down to 20th. Paris Saint-Germain led the overall table on nine points, leaving Como 1907 just three points behind the leaders and Manchester United trailing the summit by six points.
Manchester United returns to action at home against Bournemouth on October 25, while Como 1907 next plays at home to Sassuolo on October 24.
